Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hits theaters June 2! To celebrate it's release, Marvel has been dropping Spider-hero variant covers for a number of their titles all month long. The Spider-Verse already has an abundance of excellent spider-variant designs of its own, from Spider-Punk to Spider-Gwen, and is constantly being expanded, like with the recent reveal of Spider-Boy! Now the rest of the Marvel Universe has joined in on the fun! Here are some of our favorite covers that have released so far:

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a sequel to the 2018 award-winning animated movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The sequel picks up with Miles Morales a few years later as Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Miles is catapulted across the Multiverse where he encounters a team of Spider-People dedicated to protecting its existence. However, when a new threat arises, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders. He must soon redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

Miles first appeared in Ultimate Fallout #4 (2011) after the death of Peter Parker. He is a biracial teenager, son to a African-American father and Puerto Rican mother. Originally created in an alternate Marvel Universe timeline, he was later made a character in the main Marvel Universe (Earth-616). The reaction to Miles Morales was varied among fans. Stan Lee himself approved of the character as a positive role model for children of color, however some fans were displeased with the replacement of Peter Parker. 

In 2018, Miles was made the protagonist in the Academy Award-winning animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. After the first movie, Miles became a favorite with new and old comics book fans alike.
